Summer Fun and Learning

Summer vacation is here and there are so many ways learning can continue while having fun.  Please check the list below, and make sure you check back as we will continue to add resources.

Reading Fun!

FREE Summer Reading Resources from the DOE

The DOE is excited to share that New York City families will have free access to more than 6,000 books through myON’s digital library, including Spanish titles, through September 30. Families with children of all ages can access the digital library through a single login for each age group, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on any web-enabled device.

Brooklyn Public Library.  Calling all Summer Readers!

What can be better on a hot summer day than visiting the library? You enter and the smell of books immediately invites you to sink into a book and take on a reading adventure.  Check out the Brooklyn Public Library website, it has tons of reading lists for readers of all ages! Never get stuck wondering what your child should read next, these lists will have you covered.

The Brooklyn Central Library is a gorgeous building worth visiting.  You can combine the visit with a trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens which is right next to it. AND there is a Four and Twenty Blackbirds Cafe right there, so you can even have a slice of pie before or after you read.

If you don’t feel like going too far, our Carroll Gardens Library has been serving the neighborhood for more than 100 years.  There is always something interesting to read, there are computers and plenty of comfy places for your child to read.  There are also classes and reading hours for the little ones, make sure to check out their event page.
