Child’s Play NY is a Brooklyn-based company founded in 2009, committed to offering a diverse array of theater arts classes for children. Mini Musical: Wizard of Oz with Child’s Play NY
Let’s go “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” together in this beautiful re-imagination of the classic Frank L. Baum story.  Get interviewed in a Munchkin talk-show about your special profession and how you  really  feel about the Witch.  Explore the different physical lives of Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion while learning their signature songs. Music and lots of playing bring Oz to life!

Conveniently located in the heart of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, Keylab is the new modern music, arts, & technology school that offers individually tailored private lessons, dynamic group classes, exciting workshops and more for ages 5 to adult. Keylab is offering 10% off the following classes for PS29 Families. SONGLAB – ages 8 and up – $165/month ($148.50 w 10% discount)
This highly individualized course encourages students to find their own voice through mastering basic music theory concepts and music production techniques using Garageband software and our iPad/midi keyboard workstations. Students will learn to compose, record, mix and share their own original music using digital, acoustic, and vocal tracks. 

SONGLAB JR. ages 6-7 – $150/month ($135 w 10% discount)
A primer class for 6-7 year old students teaching music notation, music theory and basic composition and production concepts using a combination of workbook exercises, board and card games, and project based exercises using our iPad/midi keyboard workstations.

Primary Concepts

  • Music Notation – Beginning students will learn to read, write, and count and clap Whole, Dotted Half, Half, and Quarter, Eighth, and Sixteenth notes and rests; and to identify musical pitches on the Bass and Treble clef and the piano keyboard.
  • Musical Meter and Song Form – Students will learn to understand organizational principles of music notation, including measures and meter (how many beats per measure), and basic song form (the various sections in a piece of music). 
  • Harmony – students will learn basic chords (major and minor triads) and simple chord progressions used in popular music
  • Music Composition – Students will learn how to write a strong melody, how to use chords/harmony with a melody, and how to create exciting rhythmic ideas with the goal of creating different sections that will be combined to create finished songs.
  • Music Production – Students will learn how to record, edit, and mix their ideas using Garageband and other music production software. Through this final stage of the song production process, students will not only be learn fun and exciting skills as budding music producers, but also valuable project management skills and the pride of having a strong work ethic. Once songs are completed, students can share their music with friends, family, and on social media via our Soundcloud page.
